The Lodge Cast Iron Enameled Dutch Oven is a perfect combination of form and function. It is a classic way to prepare unforgettable meals. This 7 quart enamel dutch oven is ideal for cooking, marinating, chilling and freezing. The coloured porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, induction stoves as well as in the oven. The cookware is poured into individual sand moulds from melted iron and then coated with several layers of porcelain. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron, creating a smooth, hard surface that is easy to clean while maintaining excellent heat distribution and heat retention. Better heat retention actually reduces the energy consumption needed when cooking, saving money. Tight fitting lid seals in moisture. The stainless steel knob is oven safe up to 500 F. Not recommended for use on outdoor barbecues or over open flames outdoors. Not suitable for microwave use. The black rim of the pot is matte enamelled, non-exposed cast iron. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the original look of the cookware.

What is porcelain enamel on cast iron? It is glass that bonds to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particle of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 760.0 °C. The glass frit melts and fuses with the cast iron and forms a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and resistant to water and other consumables.
EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth surface that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists stains. Although enamelled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrubbing brush is recommended to keep your Dutch oven in tip shape!
Heat Retention The cast iron vessel has excellent heat distribution and retention, which evenly heats both the bottom and side walls. The tight-fitting lid locks in moisture for delicious braises, stews or a large amount of beans. Our heat retention also reduces energy requirements when cooking.
